Fuel Save and SBO II followed up their opening day wins in the 2016 Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) Basketball League last Tuesday at the Asia Pacific College gym.
After a 53-point whipping in its first game, Fuel Save also topped debuting CS2, 85-74, to stay undefeated early in the tournament.
All but one of its 10 players contributed at least two points with Carlo Montoya leading the way with 26 points on top of three rebounds and seven assists.
From a tie at 39, Fuel Save used a 13-3 blast to open the third quarter and get the momentum, which extended to the fourth for a lead as big as 16 points.
Richard Saens had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists to lead CS2, which tried hard but failed to bring the lead down to single digits in the final quarter.
SBO II, meanwhile, pounced on an error-prone SH/G4S (CS3) for an 88-57 triumph to join Fuel Save on top.
With its quick and sly hands, SBO II rendered CS3 helpless with 30 turnovers and zero points off the break.
SBO II had no problem pushing the lead to as big as 35 points with its 22-0 advantage in fastbreak points, 18 whopping steals and 30 assists.
Five players wound up in double-digits for SBO II but the most impressive performances came from Hernan Sison, who had 19 points and five rebounds, and Bob Tongol, who had 10 points, five dimes and five steals.
Romnel Amistroso and Lloyd Tan had 20 and 18 markers, in that order, to give life to CS3 despite the loss.
V-Power Retail barged into the win column with a 67-55 drubbing of Solane, which also played its first game in the new tournament.
Despite just six players contributing in scoring and getting beaten in several departments, V-Power still dominated thanks to its big edge in downlow.
Gernard Andino powered V-Power with 24 points and 16 rebounds, Jolo Valdez added 15 points and 10 rebounds with Jay Lazo, despite coming up scoreless, had a 14-rebound output.
It was a valiant effort for Solane, which had more assists (15-13), steals (17-12) and points off turnovers (26-12), but just struggled to outwrestle V-Power inside the paint.
John Walker and Carlo Salire combined for 29 points for Solane.
