Fuel Save and SBO II are still leading the pack in the 2016 Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) Basketball League after November 24
Fuel Save zoomed to their seventh victory and kept the number one spot after conquering Solane, 82-73, at Asia Pacific College in Makati.
Carlo Montoya once again took charge for Fuel Save, finishing with 29 points including all but one of the team’s total of four triples.
David Kairuz made his presence on both ends with 13 points and 17 rebounds with JP Montoya had an all-around game with 12 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
Two days before, Carlo Montoya also exploded for 27 points to carry Fuel Save to a 104-80 rout of Aviation
SBO II, meanwhile, survived SBO I, 68-63, to improve to 5-1 and grabbed solo second place behind Fuel Save.
A 6-0 blast gave SBO II a 66-60 lead with 28 seconds to go, giving them a breather down the stretch.
Royce De Guzman, Ar Malayas, and Josh Guinto took turns in leading SBO with 16, 15, and 14 points, respectively.
SBO I failed to follow up its 78-57 drubbing of CS3 just two days before and fell to a 4-2 record.
Christian Manalo was consistent in both games, scoring 12 against SBO II and 13 against CS3.
In the other game, V-Power picked up its third win at the expense of CS2, 82-79.
Jolo Valdez was unstoppable with 31 points, 19 rebounds and seven assists for V-Power, which shares a fifth-place with with Solane at 3-3.
Ambo Demaisip also had impressive line of 24 points, five rebounds and 13 assists.
CS2 absorbed its fifth loss with two losses despite Joel Villaraba’s valiant 25-point performance.
