Prima Pasta survives South Hills’ 3-point barrage

Manila, Philippines — Team Prima Pasta relied on quickness and height advantage to survive South Hills’ three-point shooting spree, 79-72, on Saturday in the 2013 Next5Hoops Ball Club – Elite Division at the Dasmarinas Village Basketball court in Makati City.

Team Prima rode on the stellar play of 6’2″ forward Josant Cervantes, who led his team with 21 points and nine rebounds, for a second win in a highly-competitive league organized by One Unite Sports.

Although the Pastas took a commanding 38-21 lead in the first half, South Hills regrouped and retaliated behind JP Redelick, who topscored for his team with 24.

South Hills, who unleashed 15 triples, came within 45-47 in the third period but failed to take the lead though it came rallying back again the fourth.

Team Prima’s starting point guard Adrian Regado, who had seven points along with five rebounds, six assists and three steals, though, nailed a triple to douse South Hills’ comeback and stretch the advantage to 75-67 with over a minute left.

Team Prima’s first win came over Modair Manila, 71-65, at the Guadalupe Cloverleaf court.
