MANILA, Philippines — Skyes Asia bounced back from a tough loss to Expert Global Solution with a 71-52 clobbering of IBM last April 12 in the 2014 BPO Classics Basketball tournament at Reyes Gym.
After yielding a close one to EGS, 66-69, Sykes Asia vented its ire on IBM to barge into the win column of the competitive division of the tournament organized by One Unite Sports for BPO companies in Metro Manila.
Three players did most of the damage with John Christopher Mallari leading with 14 points and six rebounds, Christian Dayao with 13 and seven, and Regie Garcia with 12 and eight.
IBM absorbed its second defeat in as many starts.
A double-double performance from Renier Jimenez, meanwhile, sparked Microsourcing EV’s 68-48 dismantling of Stefanini in the intermediate division.
Jimenez finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds while getting solid back up from Christopher Oconer, who had 11 points and eight boards, and Alvin Villar who added 12 markers.
Microsourcing Inc. also came away with a 56-36 rout of Telstra in the recreational division with Michael Jadoc leading with 10 points also last April 12.
Meanwhile, Inifit Outsourcing halted HSBC, 82-78, in an entertaining match-up last April 13 at Makati Coliseum.
Infinit-O, one of the holdover companies for last season, leaned on the 26-point, 14-rebound explosion of Norman Nunez to neutralize the monster trio of HSBC.
Cyrus Malagueno added 17 points while three others finished with 10 for Infinit-O, spoiling the performances of HSBC’s Ariel Ponce (20 points), Paolo Jay Yasay (18 points) Chris Richard Baylon (17 points).
In the intermediate division, EXL Service Philippines, Inc. scored a second victory after defeating Xerox, 63-55, while CustomerContactChannels (C3) nipped US Autoparts, 54-52.
Shell Business Service Centre-Manila, after a heartbreaking 43-44 setback to Microsourcing Inc, recovered with a 69-45 rout of Cash Flow Outscouring Services (CFOS) in the recreational division.
