MANILA, Philippines — Expert Global Solutions reasserted its mastery of Shell Business Service Centre – Manila with a 72-59 win last April 26 at Reyes Gym in a rematch of last year’s finalists in the BPO Classics Basketball tournament.
Louie Lanzar led the still unstoppable EGS, which racked up its third straight victory in the tournament organized by One Unite Sports, with 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Frank Divina, meanwhile, finished with 11 points and 14 boards to dominate the paint for the powerhouse EGS, which is shooting for a title in the competitive division for the second straight year.
SBSC-Manila, meanwhile, dropped to 1-3 despite sizzling from downtown with six triples compared to none by EGS. Mark Espiritu had half of those treys to finish with 14 markers.
In the intermediate division of the country’s biggest BPO basketball league, balanced scoring helped US Autoparts stun up-and-coming EXL Service Philippines, Inc., 66-59, for its first win.
Cristeo Tamayo led US Autoparts with 17 points and six rebounds, but five others had solid contributions on both ends of the floor to snap EXL’s dream start and spoil Raniel Belen’s 31-point explosion.
Efren Malabanan had nine points and seven rebounds, MC Gagan with nine points, Randolph Mendoza with eight and 10, Romeo Cruz Jr. eight points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals, and Christian Marquez with seven points and eight rebounds.
Xerox, on the other hand, finally barged into the win column of the intermediate division with a 74-54 demolishing of Stefanini behind the 17 points of Edmar Canlas.
