MANILA, Philippines – The third season of the Next5Hoops South opened shop on Sunday, February 28 at the EJG Lucky Gym in Parañaque, parading nine teams in the tourney.
The competition kicked off with Dasma Gym picking up a 90-84 victory over DECA 8990 while Aling Lucy’s edging ET Homes with a 67-65 triumph.
Dasma Gym was led by Ryan Rosas, who collected 27 points to come along with five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Three players in Dasma Gym uniform were also in double scoring figures as Ryan Chavez had 17 markers, Bimbo Dimagiba pitched 14 points, and Jemboy Solero added 13 to insert their team’s name into winner’s column.
Meanwhile, DECA 8990 relied on Lawrence Paolo Rapinan’s game-high output of 34 points with four boards, three dimes and one steal.
In other match-up, Aling Lucy’s arduously bagged the win against ET Homes with the double-double performance of John Tuliao, who hauled 16 markers and 13 boards.
Tuliao received assistance from JR Pigao and Cris De Lucas, who combined 25 points to spearhead the squad’s campaign on a high note.
On the other hand, Martin Palisoc operated ET Homes’ frontline unit in a losing effort by amassing 19 points.pp
