MANILA, Philippines – UnitedHealth Group narrowly walked out of the Treston International College in Taguig City with the victory against EXL as the determined squadron had to dig deep to bag a 49-48 win on Sunday, May 1.
UnitedHealth Group’s first conquest in the intermediate division of the 2016 BPO Classics season was made possible by Jay Valdes, who had 21 points and converted 7 of his 16 free throw attempts.
Valdes tapped Rey David Santos for a helping hand as the resolute wingman barged their counterparts with 17 markers, 4 boards, two dimes and one steal.
On the other hand, EXL solely leaned on Raniel Patrick Belen, who flirted with a double-double output of 20 points and 9 rebounds to come along with two assists and one block.
The excitement was easily felt when BPO Classics had its opening ceremony prior to the maiden games of the tourney’s 2016 season.
22 companies attended the festivities by parading their teams along with their respective beautiful muses.
There were several side-events that was held to entertain the participating BPO companies and their supporters, including mini-hoops challenge sponsored by Pocari Sweat and Maybank.
UnitedHealth Group won the best performer award in the first-ever Cobra Energy Drink Power Up Battle Cry and took home a cash prize of P10,000.
Meanwhile, Czarina Joy Reyes of PSG Global Solutions was hailed as the outstanding muse during the opening ceremony.
