MANILA, Philippines – Entering the fourth and final frame down by 7 points, Accenture crawled back to claim the lead inch-by-inch to secure a 69-63 victory over Shell Business Operations on Saturday, May 14 at the EJG Lucky Gym in Parañaque City.
Coming off the bench, Gregorio Cortes III only played 19 minutes but sizzled with 28 points to go along with two rebounds and 3 assists.
Cortes, who received the “Best Player of the Game” citation, drilled 5 of his 12 beyond-the-arc shot attempts.
Joven Tecson had Cortes’ back down the stretch as he hauled 11 makers, 8 boards, two dimes, one steal and two blocks.
Despite bowing down to Accenture, Shell Business Operations had stellar outings from Dhasell Doods Caadan and Mark Laurence Espiritu, who finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Dominating the rebounding department played a pivotal part in Shell Business Operations’ effort to halt Accenture’s rally in the last period of play as they hauled 56 in total, but the team still fell short.
