MANILA, Philippines – UnitedHealth Group hardly walked away from the EJG Lucky Gym in Parañaque City with an 87-85 victory over VXI on Sunday, May 29.
Handing VXI its first taste of defeat in the ongoing 2016 BPO Classics season, UnitedHealth Group leaned on Jay Valdes’s double-double feat, tallying with 27 markers, 12 rebounds and 3 dimes.
Valdes received a helping hand from shooting guard Rey David Santos, who made 16 points and converted 3 of his 8 jumpers from downtown.
Despite bowing down to UnitedHealth Group, Jun Callelero pulled off an all-around monstrous performance for VXI by collecting 34 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists and two steals.
UnitedHealth Group and VXI are currently sharing a lead on top of the intermediate division’s team standing with a 3-1 record.
In the other match-up, Center Function copped its second-straight outing by routing EXL with a 71-63 triumph.
Frank Camama starred in Center Function’s extension of its winning streak with 19-point output, while Raniel Patrick Belen led EXL with 19 markers as well.
