MANILA, Philippines – Wells Fargo managed to capture a solo lead in the 2016 BPO Classic’s Competitive Division by toppling Accenture with a 78-71 victory on Saturday, June 11 at the Makati Coliseum in Makati City.
Cold-blooded gunslinger Ralph Norris Shappit scorched the basket with his 16-point production for Wells Fargo, which improved to a 4-1 win-loss slate in the ongoing elimination round.
Second stringers Kristan Fernando and Alvin Diasanta Dela Cruz had Shappit’s back from quarter to quarter as they contributed 13 and 11 markers respectively.
Despite yielding to Wells Fargo, Accenture did not go down without a fight as the team rallied behind Gregorio Cortes III, who drilled 17 points.
Cortes received a helping hand from Joel Kenneth Darang and Steven Nikolai Camaya, who delivered 16 and 14 markers correspondingly.
However, it was not enough to put Accenture on the winning track as the squad downgraded to a 2-3 record.
