MANILA, Philippines — Sitel kept its clean slate in the Recreational B Division of the 2016 BPO Classics but not before surviving Ammex I-Support, 69-66, last Sunday at EJG Lucky Gym.
After trailing by as many as seven points, Sitel managed to stay ahead of Ammex the rest of the way despite just a slim lead—no bigger than six points in the fourth — for its sixth win in as many games.
Jayvee Castillo and Isiah Gomez teamed up for Sitel’s 31 points with Castillo adding seven rebounds and Gomez contributing six rebounds and eight assists.
Miles Ignacio led Ammex, which absorbed its third loss in as many games, with 16 points in extended minutes.
In the Recreational A division, Sitel also won big routing winless Ubiquity, 95-67, to stay in the upper half of the seven-team field.
Five players finished in double digits for Sitel – Mel Zapanta had 20 points, Michael Manio with 14, Gilbert Gonzales and Jopher Ora with 12 apiece and Daryl Samonte with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Sitel improved to 4-2 at third place while Ubiquity stayed at the bottom with a 0-6 card.
Meanwhile, PSG Global Solutions and Eastvantage also turned back foes in similar close fashion in the Recreational A Division over the weekend.
PSG Global Solutions kept its composure in the final minute of the game to nip Personiv, 66-62, and claim solo second with a 4-1 record.
After Personiv took the lead, 61-59, on a bucket by leading scorer Sean Surbona, PSG Global Solutions reclaimed the advantage on a triple by Resty Abejuela and with 55 seconds left and held on the victory.
JC Salvo led PSG Global Solutions with 19 points, four rebounds and four assists while Abejuela added 15 points and five rebounds.
Eastvantage weathered a fiesty stand from the undermanned HCCA Health Connections, 68-63.
Eastvantage grabbed the lead for good with 1:58 to play to claim its third victory in as many games after HCCA, which only fielded in five players, gave them a scare and held a one-point briefly midway the fourth.
Richard Salarda paced all scorers with 19 points for Eastvantage while Lester Lui Magallanes added 11 points and eight dimes.
Richard Gannaban, Raymond Ordoñez, Neil Futalan and Albert Modina conspired for 57 of the total for HCCA, which absorbed its fifth loss with a win to its name.
