WarFit Basketball and 3W Builders remain perfect as the two teams are still on top of the team standings of Pool 1 of the 2016 Next5Hoops Metro Manila South Leg tournament. Last Sunday, August 7, both WarFit and 3W Builders notched their third win of the season at the Lucky Gym in Parañaque.
WarFit Basketball continued its stellar play by defeating Grease Monkey, 85-79. Four players scored in double-figures for WarFit with Richard Cui leading the way with 21 points. Reynald Kian Cui meanwhile had 17 off the bench to help his team earn the victory.
Grease Monkey fought valiantly with their nine active players but failed to recover from a slow first quarter start. Karlo Sumabat contributed 20 points and nine boards in 33 minutes of action in the losing effort.
3W Builders meanwhile took care of their opponent easily, winning over Street Chef by 21 points, 93-72. Jepoy Vito Cruz was the high-point for the 3W Builders as he tallied 29 points in just 21 minutes of play. He was wax hot from rainbow country as he hit seven three-pointers. Vito Cruz has been consistent scoring option for his team as he is averaging 20.5 PPG in their last three outings.
The 3W Builders were lighting it up from the floor, hitting 46 percent of their shots and was even better at three-point range with a 15-of-31 shooting clip from downtown. Street Chef was unable to slow down the hot shooting of the Builders.
Street Chef hit just 37 percent from the field and was a dismal 8-for-24 from downtown. Mak Wong and Jobert Castro tried their best with a combined 28-point effort.
Aling Lucy’s Panciteria also got into the win column last Sunday with a win over SH Flight, 91-78. Franklin Mancio did the most damage with 29 points, three boards, and two dimes.
Aling Lucy pulled away in the second and third periods where they scored 51 points in 20 minutes. They also did their work on the defensive end, limiting SH Flight to just 1-for-11 from three-point land. They also forced 20 turnovers while earning 24 points off of those errors.
Aling Lucy is 1-1 in the standings while WarFit Basketball and 3W Builders remain unblemished at 3-0.
