DECA 8990 are still perfect with a 6-0 record in Pool 2 of the 2016 Next5Hoops Metro Manila 1st South Leg Qualifier.
DECA 8990 reached win number six after topping over E.T. Homes, 83-76. They kicked off the game with a 26-9 scoring output in the first ten minutes and E.T. Homes failed to mount a comeback.
All five starters for the DECA 8990 had at least 12 points. Mark Orias led the attack with 20 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 dimes.
On the other side, Roger Domingo contributed 19 points for his team despite the loss. E.T. Homes tried to make runs throughout the game, but their false start gave them a huge deficit early. They are now 1-4 in the standings for fifth place.
In an earlier game, the Chargers was able to keep the Don Bosco Makati 2009 winless in the tournament. The Chargers had control early and eventually won 69-58. Jan Michael Asido put up 15 points while John Philip Galabin chipped in 13 points and 11 rebounds.
A huge development in Sunday’s game was Don Bosco fielding only six players. JM Serrano was the only guy off the Don Bosco bench as oppose to 13 active players for the Chargers. Mauro Lumba and John Braxton Estabillo put up a joint effort of 44 points but they’re teammates failed to reach double-figures.
It was the Chargers’ third win while Don Bosco stumbles into their fifth straight loss.
Tsek Repablik also nabbed a victory on Sunday, as they won over South Hills Royals with a score of 87-71.
Dannybelle Diocampo led the Tsek Repablik with 15 points and three of his teammates also scored in double-digits. Diocampo has had a productive tournament so far as he’s averaging 18.3 PPG and 12.0 RPG.
For South Hills Royals, John Paul Redelick tallied 27 points and knocked down four three-pointers. The Royals were outworked on the boards and also submitted 38 points in the paint.
The South Hills Royals suffered their first loss of the tournament.
