Enderun Colleges continued to stack up the wins in the Next5Hoops Elite Division after winning against Primus, 98-87, last August 23.
Just like in their previous outing against G-Squad when they won by 26 points, Enderun Colleges put up a ton of points on the scoreboard once again. Five players scored in double-figures with Mike Dela Cruz leading the way with 19 points and six rebounds.
Enderun’s win wasn’t a blowout, but they were in control for most of the contest. They entered the fourth quarter with a 12 point lead, and even increased it to 19 points with two and a half minutes remaining.
Primus tried to keep with Enderun but only played eight active players. Floyd Dedicatoria tallied 23 points and grabbed six boards while Rocky Acidre dished out seven assists while also scoring 20 points.
In the day’s second game, PLMun slips past SSi Metal, 73-71, in a thriller.
The game was tied at 68 apiece with 53 seconds remaining before Christopher Dela Cruz broke the tie with a jumper. On the next play, he was fouled and was able to knock down one free throw. SSi Metal had the lead momentarily up until PLMun’s Arson Palec and John Lambohon conspired for back-to-back baskets.
After a Dan De Ocampo free throw, PLMun was hanging on to a two-point lead with seven seconds remaining. In a dramatic turn of events, Dela Cruz was fouled with a second left on the clock.
Unfortunately for SSi Metal, Dela Cruz wasn’t able to hit his free throws to send the game into overtime. He was 5-for-5 on the charity stripe before those missed shots. Time expired and PLMun was able to get the victory.
Palec and Lambohon, PLMun’s late game heroes, ended the game with a joint 41-point performance. They also hauled down six rebounds and added seven steals between them.
