Ingram Micro, Emerson Finance stay unscathed

Ingram Micro and Emerson Finance cruised to second victories even as Artesyn and Solar Entertainment barged into the win column of the 2016 Next5Hoops Corporate Recreational Division last Sunday.

Ingram Micro repulsed Nexus, 84-63, to keep a clean slate early in the tournament organized by One Unite Sports.

A stark contrast from its close opening day win to Artesyn, Ingram Micro this time asserted its dominance down low for double digit discrepancies in points in the paint and rebounds.

The potent duo of Medel Dela Torre and Aries Parucha delivered for Ingram Micro, accounting for more than half of the team’s total with 26 and 20 points, respectively. Raymark Adamos added 11.

Jennifer Maximo led Nexus, which dropped to 0-2,  with 16 points while John Bul-anon and Vincent Subaldo added 21 points together off the bench.

Emerson Finance also got away with a 70-55 beating of Cement Mixers to join Ingram Micro at the top.

Making use of nearly its entire roster, Emerson Finance drew significant contributions from everyone with three players finishing in double digits.

Jericho Cleofas contributed 10 points and 10 boards for Emerson Finance, which took over the lead with over a minute left in the first period and never looked back.

Arvin Espino finished with 17 points and five rebounds for the Cement Mixers, who couldn’t control the Emerson rampage and trailed by as much as 22 in the payoff period.

Meanwhile, Artesyn got its first win at the expense of Shopping Center Management Corporation, 71-54.

Artesyn led from start to finish and never let SCMC-ARA get any momentum throughout the match, padding on to the lead by as wide as 22 midway the third period.

Robert Carlos and Lloyd Saravillo combined for 31 points to lead Artesyn, which bounced back from an opening day beating from Ingram Micro.

SCMC-Ara, which fell to 1-1, just couldn’t match up with Artesyn inside the paint with only Marvin Alcala winding up in double digits with a game-best 19 points.

Solar Entertainment likewise joined the winners’ circle after throwing its weight around against Emerson Power, 78-60.

Led by Mario Gayagaya’s 19-point, 14-rebound explosion, Solar left no room for Emerson Power to operate downlow and got 50 points off the compared to the opponent’s 30.

Solar also pounced on the sloppy Emerson Power to control the tempo from the opening buzzer of the wire-to-wire victory.

Alex Dizon was the lone bright spot for Emerson Power, finishing with a game-best 26 points that went along with 16 rebounds. Ronnie Niedo added 11.
