Ingram Micro Stays on Top at 5-0

Ingram Micro remained in the lead while Emerson Finance continued its slide in the 2016 Next5Hoops Corporate Recreational Division last Sunday at Enderun Colleges.

Still the only undefeated team, Ingram Micro stretched its win streak to five games after a 94-75 blasting Solar Entertainment.

Ingram Micro took advantage of Solar’s five-man crew with Aries Parucha leading the way with 28 points and Medel Dela Torre not far behind with 25 points that went with 17 rebounds.

They trailed by only seven points early in the fourth quarter, but Ingram Micro made sure Solar didn’t get any momentum and pushed the lead to as big as 19 to freeze the final count.

Despite undermanned, Solar Entertainment put on a tough stand not letting Ingram Micro make the game ugly and trailed not bigger than 15 points until the last minute.

Mario Gayagaya single handedly carried Solar, which dropped its fourth assignment, with 34 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Artesyn also kept its hold of the second place record after keeping Nexus Technologies winless, 65-54.

A 12-2 run to start the fourth quarter created the separation for Artesyn, which took advantage of its size for a glaring 44-18 advantage inside the paint, en route to its fourth win against one loss.

Robert Carlos and Joseph Josef were the only two double-digit scorers for Artesyn with 15 and 12 points, respectively, while they also combined for 21 points. Jay-R Aguilar and Julius Apacible churned out eight points apiece.

Jennifer Maximo, Ivan Porlares and John Bul-anon conspired for 40 of Nexus Technologies’ total output but that wasn’t enough to get them out of the slump as they slid to 0-5.

Emerson Finance, meanwhile, absorbed its second straight setback after 3-0 start, this time in the hands off SCMC-ARA, 60-57.

SCMC-ARA pulled even at 3-2, leaning on a 13-1 run to get the lead , 57-56, with a little over two minutes to play.

Emerson Finance tied it in with 43 ticks left but a jumper and a split from the line from Marvin Alcala, who paced SCMC-ARA with 21 points and eight rebounds, won them the game.

Ronald Libunao and Jericho Cleofas had 12 points each with the latter adding 13 rebounds in a losing effort for Emerson Finance.

Cement Mixers also joined Emerson Finance and SCMC-ARA at joint fourth place with identical cards after a 69-56 triumph over Emerson Power.

Three players carried the scoring cudgels for Cement Mixers with Arvin Espino top scoring with 19 points while the burden for Emerson Power fell in the hands of Alex Dizon, who had 28 on top of 11 boards.

Cement Mixers closed out Emerson Network Power, which succumbed to a 1-4 slate, on a blazing 19-4 run in the last 6:32 minutes.
