Goto Pilipinas, Black Label, J&J, Caron Salvage Wins

Goto Pilipinas and three others salvaged close victories in the Intermediate Division of the 2016 Next5Hoops Metro Manila – Central Leg last November 13.

Goto Pilipinas held on to a 74-66 victory over 9GVISAPH in an evenly matched game with neither side seeing a double-digit lead for most of the contest.

But in the payoff period, Goto Pilipinas managed to push the lead to 70-60 with under 3 minutes to play.

9GVISAPH brought back down to five on a bucket by Renz Rivota, who finished with 24 points, but that was the lead the team would score.

Mark Deocampo, Arnel Ibbarientos and Mark Mercardo were the top producers for Goto Pilipinas with 18, 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, Black Label withstood a hotshooting Berliner Grill, 88-84.

Black Label had to focus its efforts inside the paint to douse Berliner Grill’s hot hand, which produced 10 triples, and keep the slim lead in the fourth.

Karl Quiambao paced Black Label, which got 60 points from downlow, with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Arthur Delito added 14 points.

Berliner Grill, which only utilized seven players, was actually in the driver’s seat in the third quarter but wasn’t able to sustain the intensity all the way.

But Anton Tolentino was phenomenal for Berliner Grill, finishing with 39 points on 6-of-10 shooting from 3. Jerico Magno chipped in 18.

J and J also turned to its front court attack to turn back sweet shooting Priminent Builders, 107-101.

A crippling 10-0 run in the last 3 minutes lifted J and J to the victory with JR Olegario masterminding the finishing touches.

Olegario wound up with 26 points including six in the game-clinching run. He also had eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.

After connecting on 14 triples, Priminent Builders was held field goal-less in the last five minutes on the game with the last being a three from Marwin Montejo.

Montejo unleashed 48 points built on nine triples in a losing effort for Priminent Builders.

In another thrilling game, Caron slipped past Fuel Saver, 77-76.

Free throws from Kevin Lucente and Errol Bongay in the final three seconds salvaged the victory for Caron.

Lucente did most of the damage with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Erick Ramirez provided sufficient back up with 19 points.
