Fix and Care’s demolition of Ballers United proved to be one of the highlights of the Next5Hoops Metro Manila – Central Leg Recreational Division games last November 13.
Fix and Care scored a 116-53 beatdown of Ballers United even as 9GVISAPH, Texas TWT, and Exile Aquinas also came away with thrilling victories in the tournament.
Firing on all cylinders, Fix and Care needed just the two final quarters to turn things upside down for Ballers United. From just a 7-point halftime lead, Fix and Care made it a 34-point game by the end of the third.
Fix and Care got the bulk of its attack from its inside game where it scored 88 against Ballers United’s 24.
All 12 players had their share in scoring but none bigger than Adrian Saguilon’s 23-point performance. Ervie Lacap wasn’t too far behind with 22 points off the bench.
In contrast, the five-man Exile Aquinas defeated KPATS North, 80-77, thanks to a 6-0 closing attack.
Holding KPATS North scoreless in the last minute and half, Exile Aquinas took advantage and sealed the win on a basket by Vince Cortez with .9 seconds remaining.
Exile Aquinas withstood playing without substitutions as Van Costales carried the load of scoring on his back with 37 points that went with 13 boards. Paolo Avecilla added 23.
It was a sorry loss for KPATS North, which even led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter but could not sustain the momentum late in the game.
Wilson Berinquel topscored for KPATS North in a losing effort with 26 that came with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, 9GVISAPH survived a pesky Don Bosco side, 73-68.
9GVISAPH held on to the victory even when Don Bosco came to within just four, 68-72, with still over 30 seconds remaining.
Lucky for 9GVISAPH, Don Bosco misfired on both triple attempts in the ensuing possessions.
Julius Caingoy took charge for 9GVISAPH with 18 points in 27 minutes of action but drew enough help from the rest of the team. Pat Castillo added 15.
Leading Don Bosco’s tough stand was Geo Dela Roca, who produced a game-high 23 points that went along seven rebounds and four dimes.
Texas TWT turned back KPATS South in a similar fashion, 86-81.
A persistent KPATS South managed to get the lead down two from as high as 12 at the start of the payoff period, but Ryan Rosas and Nomar Adrias held the forth for Texas TWT.
Adrias led with 24 points but Rosas was a monster on all departments with 20 points, 24 rebounds, eight assists and six steals.
For KPATS South, only five of 10 players fielded in managed to contribute with Rey Romualdo delivering 22 points and Lawrence Antig with 21.
