Fix and Care sneaks past Badgers; Texas TWT and Yokohama notch victories

Faced with a one-point deficit with 13 seconds left on the clock, Fix and Care leaned on the heroic efforts of Ronel Toledo to earn a close 74-73 win over the Badgers in the Next5Hoops Metro Manila Central Leg – Recreational Division.

The Badgers’ Louie Tuazon knocked down a clutch free throw to give his team a slight edge heading into the dying seconds. Fix and Care then tried to counter with a three-pointer after a timeout. The shot missed but fortunately landed on the hands of Toledo. Toledo got the offensive board and then scored the go-ahead basket.

Toledo finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds (8 offensive) while Adrian Suguilon came away with 18 points and 8 boards off the bench for Fix and Care. On the losing end, Tuazon top-scored for his team with 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Texas TWT meanwhile earned a 92-81 win over Flight thanks to 24 points from Nomar Adrias. Adrias shot lights out, going 53 percent from the floor and knocking down six three-pointers.

John Obar netted 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Jaylord Lachico added 14 in the victory. On the other side, Johann Bautista had 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 steals for Flight.

Texas TWT had strong scoring outputs in the second and third periods, putting up a combined 50 points in those two-quarters alone. Despite Flight coming back strong in the last ten minutes of the game, they failed to mount a comeback and suffered the loss.

Wrapping up the weekend action was Yokohama taking on Hokage ballers. Yokohama went home with a 79-67 win thanks to the efforts of JR Mendoza and Ryan Gogorza who each had 16 points.

Hokage Ballers’ Joe Burata was the high-point man for his team with 26 while also adding 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Cyrus Pineda contributed also 18 points and Allan Balbuena pitched in with 12.

Despite the best efforts of the Hokage Ballers, they were heavily outrebounded 57-68. Yokohama’s Kervin Valencia pulled down 14 rebounds while Mendoza, Olayres combined for 17 boards. Yokohama also won the battle inside, scoring 48 points in the shaded lane. Their strong rebounding output and dominance in the paint earned them the win.
