Convincing wins for West Rembo, Tsek Repablik, Black Label

West Rembo, Tsek Repablik and Black Label also cruised to victories in the Next5Hoops Metro Manila Central Leg -Recreational Division last weekend at the Asia Pacific College Gym in Makati.

Tsek Repablik emerged the victor in a hot-shooting affair against Caron, 102-87.

With both teams unloading 12 triples each, what made the difference for Tsek Repablik was its quick hands.

Led by June Crespo, Tsek Repablik had 17 steals that resulted into 20 points from fast break attempts, allowing the team to pull away for good in the fourth.

Aside from leading with five steals, Crespo also had a game-best 23 points and five assists with no turnovers in 23 minutes of action.

Right behind him are Dannybelle Diocampo, who was a beast in his own right finishing with 16 points, 16 rebounds and six assists, and Pian Castillo, whose 15 total points all came treys.

Caron tried to keep it close in the third quarter but eventually gave out as the turnovers piled. Erick Ramirez had 20 in a losing effort.

West Rembo, meanwhile, turned to its inside presence to subdue Wizards,79-64.

Finding its rhythm in the second half, West Rembo turned a see-saw affair and led by as much as 18 midway the fourth quarter.

Patrick Cabigas paced West Rembo, which had a 52-42 advantage inside the paint, with 19 points and eight rebounds while Darwin Ruiz added 14 points.

Wizards was also outrebounded, 54-44, and turned the ball over 27 times which gave West Rembo 21 points.

Ian Suabsa’s 24-point, 10-point explosion went for naught for Wizards, whose best quarter was the second where it even got the taste of the lead.

Black Label, meanwhile, was simply superior over Fuel Saver and it showed in the 90-73 rout.

Leadings in significantly in rebounds (61-44), points in the paint (52-40) and from turnovers (24-9), Black Label owned the game from start to finish.

Black Label held the lead, which ballooned to as big as 20, from the 7:26 mark of the first quarter until the final buzzer.

Four players finished in double digits for Black Label with Ian Tolentino showing the way with 23 points built on a 5-of-8 shooting from three. Carl Quiambao added 19 points and 10 boards while Mark Tarrobal and Art Andres scored 11 apiece.

Despite shooting 10 triples and registering 10 blocked shots against Black Label, Fuel Saver’s efforts to make a comeback were handily foiled.

Lester Dickens contributed with 19 points, four rebounds and nine dimes in the loss.
