Eastvantage, Converga and Transcom chalked up contrasting wins in the 2016 BPO Classics Recreational Division last December 3 at the EJG Lucky Gym in Parañaque.
Winning the biggest is Eastvantage after overwhelming Sourcefit, 73-49.
Joran Arzadon led the assault for Eastvantage with 17 points, four rebounds and five assists while Richard Salarda and Merphil Leal chipped in 13 points apiece and combined for 14 rebounds.
Though Sourcefit made it hard to pull away for good for three quarters, Eastvantage found the opening late in the third and led by not less than 18 in the payoff period.
Eastvantage got a boost from its inside game, scoring 46-30 from inside the paint.
EJ Pajayon and John Tamayo had 15 and 13 points, respectively, to lead SourceFit.
Meanwhile, Transcom turned back Wint and Kidd, 78-69.
Despite leading most of the contest, Transcom couldn’t break the game wide open. It led by no more than seven points in the third quarter but found a safe distance in the payoff period.
Transcom spoiled John Danglan’s 36-point explosion for Wint and Kidd.
It was a team effort for Transcom with Aaron Caringal, John Queze and John Dela Fuente with 15, 12 and 10 points, respectively.
In the other recreational game of the tournament organized by One Unite Sports, Converga survived a last-ditch rally from Telstra for a 52-49 win.
From 11 points at the start of the payoff period, Telstra trimmed Converga’s lead down to just one with 30 seconds left to play.
But Converga won’t be denied, leaning on clutch free throws from Chris Conde to get them to safety.
Conde finished with 17 points to pace Converga while Dom Pacana flaunted an all-around game with 15 points and 16 boards.
It was a valiant effort from Telstra, which trailed by 18 points late in the third quarter but was still able to comeback.
CM Daluro and John Peneiro conspired for 31 points for Telstra in the losing effort.
In the lone Recreational Plus game, ARMCO defeated KMC Solutions, 75-69.
The dynamic duo of Russel Rida and Lester Pacete combined accounted for 50 of ARMCO’s total output.
StarTek Philippines, meanwhile, overcame IBEX Global, 78-71, in the Intermediate Division.
Leading the way was Rommel Figueroa, who unleashed 21 points built on three triples that went with seven rebounds and nine assists.
