KPATS South, Hokage Ballers and 9GVISA.PH flexed their muscles in the Recreational Division while So Kian and Wednesday Group also dominated in the Intermediate side of the Next5Hoops Metro Manila Central Leg over the past weekend.
KPATS South threw its weight around the paint to defeat FNC, 92-86, last December 4.
To match FNC’s hot shooting, KPATS turned to its inside game and got a whopping 74-40 points inside the paint, thanks largely to the efforts of Elgin Sawal.
Sawal was a force to reckon on both ends, unleashing 36 points and 23 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play.
Mark Enriquez and Jonjet Sotomayor provided enough back up with 17 and 12 points, respectively, for KPATS South.
It was a heartbreaking loss for FNC, which sizzled with 7 triples but couldn’t get the breaks in the end game. Adrian Suguilon had 29 points and 11 rebounds for his troubles in the loss.
In another Recreational game last December 3, Hokage Ballers scored an 82-63 rout of Exile Aquinas.
Hokage Ballers drew contributions from almost all of its players with Joe Burata and Christian Taguinod leading the way with 14 markers apiece.
With a hot hand and sweet passing, Hokage Ballers connected on eight triples and registered 20 assists.
In contrast, only 7 scored from Exile Aquinas’ side. Paolo Avecilla had 17 points and 11 rebounds in a losing effort.
On the same day, 9GVISA.PH demolished G&C Anmars, 93-71.
9GVISA.PH pounced on the error-prone Anmars, turning 24 turnovers into 33 points while also getting 20 off fastbreak attempts.
Dante Ditan posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Yeng Go and Neil Clemente added 11 markers apiece.
Despite Rensy Pagulayan’s impressive 38-point, 11-rebound showing, Anmars trailed by as much as 29 late in the game.
In the intermediate division of the tournament, So Kian turned back Acuatico, 84-76, while Wednesday Group cruised past Ballerhood, 92-77.
So Kian leaned on Jessie Alastoy and Ramon Alejo to own the undermanned Acuatico, who only utilized eight players.
Alastoy and Alejo combined for 45 points and 25 rebounds to shine for So Kian.
Wednesday Group, meanwhile, took advantage of countless missed chances for the dominating victory over Ballerhood.
Five players finished in double digits but Jonathan Barrios stood out 21 points and eight rebounds in 23 minutes of play for Wednesday Group.
