Tile Center Edged Hoops King in a Thrilling Victory, 3W, P4P and Augustea Gets the W

Next5Hoops Metro Manila South Leg Intermediate Division continued at the EJG Lucky Gym in Paranaque City Last January 28.

3W Builders kicked off the action with a convincing 100-44 victory over JRM. Five players from 3W Builders scored in double-figures with Exequiel Panares leading the way with 15 points in just 10 minutes of play.

The 3W Builders showed no mercy from start to finish. JRM never got into any kind of rhythm as they struggled to shoot the basketball. JRM finished 23 percent from the field, even putting up a 7-point first quarter and a 6-point third quarter. Michael Acuña was the lone bright spot for JRM finishing with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

In the next game, Pound for Pound Fitness pulled out an 81-70 win over Picole Coffee. Dion Reverente shot 50 percent on his way to 18 points and he even added 15 rebounds.

Aside from Reverente, the trio of Errol Bongay, John Martin, and Lloyd Sandoval helped Pound for Pound earn the win. The three starters combined for 42 big points. For Picole Coffee, Mark Asido netted 23 points in the losing effort.

Tsek Repablik meanwhile got the better of ET Homes, getting the 98-87 victory. Spearheaded by the twin efforts of Kevin Buenaflor and Francis Guiriba who had 20 points each, Tsek Repablik was able to pull away late.

Tied at 81 apiece with 2:56 left, Buenaflor hit a triple that opened the flood gates. ET Homes got stuck at 81 points as Tsek Repablik poured it on, scoring a total of 10 straight points in a span of over a minute. Since that juncture, ET Homes never recovered and Tsek Repablik prevailed.

Tile Center edged Hoops King, 77-74 in the next game. Josiah Fordan knocked down a late game bucket to give his team a two-point edge with 40 seconds left. Hoops King tried to answer back, but they missed their last two shots in the dying seconds.

Fordan ended up with a team-high 23 points and he also did his work on the defensive end, registering five steals. Hoops King’s Mark Odon similarly ended up with 23 points but his team failed to earn the win.

Last not but not the least, Augustea finished the day’s action with a 102-67 beating on Kidzshots.

Francis Amores fired away with 19 points and 9 rebounds off the bench. As Amores top scored, four of the five starters for Augustea finished in double-figures. For Kidzshots, Danzel Fernandez ended up with 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Augustea used a 17-7 second period to gain the lead and then produced 37 points in the third quarter en route to their dominant win.
