Intermediate Division Semis Cast Complete

HSBC, Telus, Startek and the Results all made it to the semifinals of the BPO Classic Season 8 Intermediate Division last Sunday.

Top seed HSBC had an easy time eliminating Center Functions, 75-51.

With excellent ball handling, HSBC built a big enough lead as early as the second period and never looked back from there.

HSBC registered 25 assists and only had 11 turnovers.

Twelve players contributed in scoring for HSBC with Espino and Gamboa showing the way with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Center Functions hardly stood a chance, only getting four points off turnovers while committing 20 miscues themselves.

In the other bracket, no. 1 Startek pulled away late in the third to repulse Sitel, 85-71.

Led by Rommel Figeuroa, who had 26 big points, Startek turned a see saw battle into a one sided affair en route to the semis.

Startek took the lead for good with under four minutes left in the third and never trailed again from there.

Four players had double digit points for Sitel but didn’t get much scoring outside of that.

Third seed Telus, meanwhile, overcame Wells Fargo, 69-61.

A strong start gave Telus the early edge so despite being held to just eight points in the second quarter, it still retained the upper hand.

All but one of 13 players fielded by Telus chipped in at least two points with only Franklord Divina finishing in double figures with 11 points.

Despite keeping withing striking distance, Wells Fargo couldn’t get the push to take over the game.

The Results also slipped past UnitedHealth Group, 76-67, to complete the Top 4 cast.

Teyron Hermoso and Jose De Vera led the charge for the Results with 15 markers apiece with the latter adding a team-best 13 rebounds.

The Results had the lead from the 8:44 mark of the opening period up until the final buzzer but only led by as much as 15 points.
