In the Intermediate Division of the Next5Hoops Metro Manila North Leg Qualifiers, Pacific Union managed to escape Dent-U, 91-90. The game came down the wire as both teams traded clutch buckets.
Staring at one point deficit with 27 seconds remaining, Eugene Castro of Dent-U was able to score to put his team on top, 90-89. Just when Dent-U thought they had the game in the bag, AJ Carandang was able to hit the game-winner with 5 seconds left to help Pacific Union get the win.
Goto Pilipinas meanwhile earned a victory over Mage, 83-71. Mark Mercado led the way for Goto Pilipinas with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Mage was bullied in the paint, surrendering 56 points in the shaded line. Alex Xavier had 17 points for Mage.
Mark Bayabao was the hero for PNP Enforcer as he hit the go-ahead bucket with two seconds remaining to give his team the 73-71 win over LSBC. Bayabao only had 3 points, but his lone field goal was the difference maker.
Tied at 71 apiece, Adap Imperio had a chance to win it win for LSBC in the dying seconds of the game. He unfortunately missed his shot and PNP Enforcer was able to get the rebound and set up Bayabao’s game-winner.
PMT Clothing rounded up the day’s action with a victory over Telkha, 95-75. Destine Javelona had a team-high 19 points for PMT Clothing and Nino Romano chipped in with 17 points off the bench.
For Telkha, Bryann Salinga ended up with 17 points and 15 rebounds but his double-double wasn’t enough to earn them the win.
