The Next5Hoops Metro Manila North Leg Qualifiers Recreational Division was in action last Saturday, February 25, at Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Wolfpack came out with a 78-69 win over J-Cube as Cedric Matugas had 23 points and 7 rebounds. Wolfpack used a dominant third quarter, outscoring their opponent 30-18. For J-Cube, Aaron Lintag top-scored with 18 points while adding 3 rebounds.
Leeleng Iemploy meanwhile got 19 points from Ryan Rosas to earn the 102-91 victory over Wolverines. Rosas was on fire, hitting 8-for-9 from the field. Nino Garido chipped in with 18 points and 6 boards. Joseph Navaro was the game’s highest scorer with 36 points, but it was not enough to power the Wolverines.
Bryan Urayensa registered a triple-double of 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists to help NSD move passed Spartans, 100-86. Urayensa also did damage on the defensive end as he tallied 5 steals. Spartan’s Edward Gratil did all he could with 37 points in the losing effort.
The Recreational Division continued the following day at the Asia Pacific College in Makati. Baba’s Rice Mills also got a win, 73-55, against Team Papi. Jerick Datu tallied 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Brats Bagay also helped Baba’s Rice Mills as he had 12 points off the bench.
P4P Fitness similarly had no problems in their match versus Flight, winning 90-77. It was the triad of Mark Derafera, Tarig Curamang, and Andrew Almario who paved the way by having a combined 62 points for P4P Fitness. Flight’s Jericho Senerez put up 34 points in the loss for Flight.
