Hokage Ballers, DECA 8990 and Pirates led the weekend’s victors in the Nex5Hoops Metro Manila 2nd Central Leg Recreational Division last April 8.
The day after, Picole Coffee, Elite-4 Internet Cafe, Rey Electrical Center and Region 3 Ballers also collected victories in the tournament organized by One Unite Sports.
Hokage Ballers banked on a strong second quarter to rout Aqua Pass, 77-56.
With Aqua Pass held to just three measly points in the second period, Hokage Ballers zoomed away and led by as big as 28 points.
Christian Taguinod led Hokage Ballers with 17 points of the bench while DJ Simon and Joe Burata had 14 and 13 points, respectively.
A strong fourth quarter pushed lifted Pirates past Aldanians, 75-72.
Pirates turned a five-point deficit with eight minutes left into a 69-64 lead with two minutes to go before holding off the Aldanians for good.
Lawrence Simbulan and JM Baiza contributed 16 points apiece for Pirates while Eugene Quitay added 12.
DECA 8990 defeated Wolfpack, 96-89, to end the day.
Buboy Barnedo exploded for 22 points for DECA 8990 while JanJan Posadas had an impressive statline with 12 points and 16 of the team’s 24 assists.
To recap the April 9 games, Picole Coffee trumped Sealand Knights, 95-85, while Elite-4 Internet Cafe dominated Wild South, 80-55.
JV Celadena carried Picole Coffee with 17 points in just 15 minutes of action. He also had five rebounds and two steals.
Picole Coffee pulled away late in the first quarter and never trailed by lower than eight points in the second half.
Elite-4 Internet Cafe, meanwhile, zoomed away after a 17-2 first quarter attack and didn’t look back.
Ryan Velasco came out with 18 points while Waki Tenorio churned out a 16-point, 10-rebound effort for Elite-4 Internet Cafe.
In the other games, Rey Electrical Center dumped EC Gasifiers, 82-61, and Region 3 Ballers turned back Team Gero.
Mark Zaballa uncorked 19 points and six rebounds for Rey Electrical Center but Shan Paguio provided solid back up with 14 points and seven boards.
Region 3 Ballers leaned on the efforts of Paolo Carpio, Adrian De Lara and Carlos Acero, who chipped in 20, 17, and 13 points, respectively. Vhic Romero also had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
