Sealand Knights destroyed its opponent while Picole Coffee survived a fourth-quarter onslaught to triumph in the Next5Hoops Metro Manila 2nd Central Leg – Intermediate Division.
Blazing from the get go, Sealand Knights routed P4P Mendiola, 111-57 last April 9 at Asia Pacific College in Makati.
Sealand Knights opened with a 32-17 first quarter and did not slow down until the payoff period where it already had a lead as big as 56 points.
All but two of the 13 players contributed at least two points for Sealand Knights but Christian Morales had the hottest hand, finishing with 24 points in just 17 minutes of play.
Christian Trance added 18 points off the bench while MJ Salazar and John Manari led the starters with 13 points each for Sealand Knights.
Sealand Knights dominated every statistical department while P4P Mendiola dug itself deeper with a whopping 39 turnovers.
Only Vincent Salas and Mark Medrocillo finished in double digits for P4P Mendiola with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
In the other Intermediate Division game, Picole Coffee turned back Cherry Block, 93-81.
Picole Coffee built a big enough lead in the first three quarters to neutralize Cherry Block’s 30-point fourth quarter.
From a 19-point deficit to start the payoff period, Cherry Block trimmed the lead down to 10 with two minutes to play, but that was the closest it could get.
Joseph Dela Cruz, who led Picole Coffee with 14 points, knocked down a triple with 39 seconds left to finally close the door on Cherry Block.
Jake Yagonia added 13 points, Jan Asido 11 and Jayson Monte 10 for Picole Coffee.
Mark Orias and Francis Barrameda, meanwhile led Cherry Block in a losing effort with 15 markers apiece.
