The Results Companies Headline Four Winners in BPO Classics Volleyball Opening Day

The Results Companies opened their title-defense bid in men’s volleyball on a high note after a come-from-behind victory over VXI to headline four winners in the opening game day 2017 BPO Classics volleyball wars at the UNILAB High Court, Mandaluyong City.

The Results Companies, the four-time defending men’s volleyball champions, dropped the first set in their debut but came back with more focus, sweeping the next three sets to take the 3-1 win.

The defending champions, which have not been beaten in two years, enjoyed a commanding 49-27 advantage in attack points with Landicho’s 19 points on 16 attacks leading the way. Rosario had 24 excellent sets for the victors as well.

In women’s volleyball action, QBE made quick work of Capital One, 2-0 to pick up their first win in the tournament. QBE capitalized on the poor reception of their foes, scoring a total of 13 service aces in the match.

Martinez led the charge for QBE with 14 points. In contrast, no one scored more than five markers for Capital One.

In other men’s results, Ingram Micro swept QBE, 3-0 behind the double-digit efforts of Tellez and De Guzman, who tallied 14 and 11 points, respectively.

It did not help that QBE committed 33 errors throughout the match, making it easier for Ingram Micro to take it in straight sets.

In the final men’s match of opening day, Stellar edged Capital One in a close back-and-forth duel, 3-1.

Capital One kept themselves within good distance of Stellar most of the sets but the Stellar simply had the composure towards the end as Capital One often let the opportunities slip away.

Mercader had 13 points for Stellar. Capital One was led by Abraham and Villanueva, who chipped in 12 and 11 markers, respectively.
