Blowout wins were the theme of Week 2 of the Next5Hoops Corporate Recreational Division as SCMC-ARA, Goto Pilipinas, and CityState Savings Bank all scored east victories over their counterparts.
Michael Soliven was the weekend’s top performer, chipping in 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting to go with 17 rebounds and seven assists to help CityState Savings Bank punch an 80-58 win over UnionBank.
Already up 41-27 at the half, CityState stepped on the gas pedal, outscoring Union Bank 21-9 in the third period to bury them. Four others scored in double-figures for CityState, with Jeffrey Domingo adding 14 markers.
Goto Pilipinas routed Safeway, 90-68 behind double-doubles from Jeff Magan and Ashly Cruz. Magan had 16 points and 11 rebounds while Cruz added 15 points and 10 boards. Both combined for 14-of-22 field goals.
Juan Carlo David paced the losing side with 20 markers and 17 boards coming off the bench. However, Leovie Ongjoco was the only starter who finished in double-digits with 17 points.
Finally, SCMC-ARA blasted Accenture, 83-60, also using a third quarter rally to pull away.
SCMC-ARA turned a single-digit advantage into a more comfortable one after scoring a 26-11 third quarter, which allowed them to take charge.
The winning side’s starters were productive, with Andrew Felix’s near triple-double of 19 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists leading the team.
Ryan Tabong had a game-high 19 rebounds to complement his 18 markers, while Chris Frias and Marvin Alcala contributed 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Ralston Shappit was the only guy who notched twin-digits with 21 points although he needed 28 attempts to reach the mark.
