No. 1 seeds in their respective pools, DECA 8990 and Picole Coffee continued their domination with resounding wins in the crossover quarterfinals last July 15.
DECA 8990 thumped Rey Electrical Center, 95-78, to enter the semifinals of the tournament organized by One Unite Sports.
Buboy Bernardo impressed with 22 points and 20 rebounds while Joshua Palacio and Jan Pasado chipped in 21 points each.
DECA 8990 routed Badgers, 97-79, last July 1 in a pool 1 clash to advance to the second playoffs.
Rey Electrical Center just couldn’t match the firepower of DECA 8990 but drew 18 points from Russell Arpon.
Picole Coffee, meanwhile, ousted Aquapass with a 104-64 demolition.
The top seed in pool 3 was coming off a 133-60 beatdown of Wild South in their group’s playoffs earlier this month.
Seven players finished in double-digit points for Picole Coffee with Karlo Guitterez pacing the way with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
It was a no contest from the get go as Picole Coffee opened with a 28-7 first quarter and closed out with 44-point fourth period blast.
Aquapass, which got into the second quarters after nipping Benchwarmers, 79-76, only had six players led by Martin Tombucon, who chalked up 21 points and 12 boards.
Meanwhile, Sealand Knights clinched a slot with an 112-73 beating of KSR.
After stunning no. 1 Hokage Ballers, 82-81, to advance, the fourth seeds in pool 4 made most out of their chance by leaving no stones unturned against KSR.
Sealand Knights blew the game with open with 28-12 second quarter and never looked back, leading by as much as 41 points.
The trio of Gino Ley, Calvin Swan, and Alex Danao brought life to seven-man strong Sealand Knights as they scored 26, 25, and 21 respectively.
Michael Nicolas, MJ Salazar, Marvin Alvarez and John Apacible combined for the other 40 points.
In contrast, only two people took charge in offense for KSR out of eight who played. Ian Ples wound up with 25 points while Dann Valencia added 23.
Wolfpack rounded out the semifinalists with a tight 84-79 win over McJerad.
After a close three quarters, JP Baylon gave the lead to Wolfpack for good with a jumper with 2:08 to play as the team held on to the lead until the final buzzer.
Andrew Baltazar led his team with 17 points and nine boards while Topher Catalan and Baylon added 13 markers apiece.
It was a tough loss for McJerad, who was the no. 1 team in Pool 2, as it faltered in its payoff period come back after overhauling a 12-point deficit.
Ryan Riparip and Leo Sarroca carried McJerad in the loss with 22 points each.
