The men’s and women’s teams of QBE were both successful in Week 5 of the 2017 BPO Classics Volleyball Tournaments, picking up straight sets wins to boost their respective positions in the team standings.
QBE’s men’s squad swept EXL, taking control after a competitive first set which went the extra distance, 28-26, 25-22, 25-18.
Macahia led the winners with his 15 points including 10 attacks and three service aces. QBE improved to 2-2 in Pool 2 of the men’s standings.
QBE’s counterparts in the women’s side had a relatively easier outing, sweeping Ring Central, 25-7, 25-9, 25-15.
Pelegrino poured in 21 points on a whopping 18 service aces as Ring Central had problems with reception all game long.
QBE rose to 3-1 in the women’s standings, just behind the undefeated Teleperformance.
It wasn’t a successful day either for Ring Central’s men’s side as the team lost to IBEX, 25-20, 25-10, 25-22. IBEX’s Ammay led the team with nine points including eight spikes.
In other men’s results, Alere beat Stellar BPO in four sets, 25-15, 25-15, 22-25, 25-16 with Alvarez’s 12 points leading the way.
Alere spoiled a 20-point performance from Stellar’s Mercader, which was built on 17 attacks.
In the other women’s game, Ingram Micro made quick work of Capital One, 25-21, 25-17, 25-21. Mirang paced the winning group with 13 points on 10 hits and two aces.
