Mong Cinco completed a defensive stop and a basket to lead Solar Entertainment to a nail-biting 65-64 win over First Datacorp in the Next5Hoops Corporate Recreational Division over the weekend.
Cinco stole the ball with just four seconds left from the hands of JC Macatangay, who had four turnovers, and quickly pulled up for what was eventually the game-winning lay-in which enabled Solar Entertainment to tally the pulsating win.
It highlighted the three-game slate which included victories from Accenture and SCMC-ARA.
Cinco had 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists for Solar while Jun Dequiros topscored with 20 markers on 9-of-17 field goal shooting. Four players notched double-digit scoring for Solar.
A Joshua Sevilla triple gave First Datacorp a 64-63 edge inside the final minute shortly after Paulo Fernandez broke the deadlock for Solar with a basket.
In the next possession, Sevilla missed an attempt, First Datacorp got an offensive rebound, and was fouled. But in the ensuing inbounds pass, Cinco was able to intercept to set up his end-game heroics.
Edgar Tuliao’s double-double of 18 markers and 11 boards paced First Datacorp in a losing effort. John Duavis had 15 points off the bench as well.
In other results, Accenture and SCMC-ARA both tallied blowout wins over Unionbank and CityState Savings Bank, respectively.
Ralston Shappit had 30 points on 11-of-21 shooting, eight rebounds, and four assists in Accenture’s 64-48 beating of Unionbank, doing it off the bench. While he was the only double-digit scorer, other teammates stepped up in other departments. Broz Murdoch and JV Jacinto had 11 and 10 rebounds, respectively.
Gael Gaite and Patrick Felizardo had 19 and 16 markers, respectively for Unionbank. Felizardo came three assists short of the triple-double as he also had 12 rebounds and seven dimes.
Meanwhile, SCMC-ARA had five double-digit scorers in their 97-65 demolition of Citystate Savings Bank. Andrew Felix was the high man with 21 points, six rebounds, and five assists, followed by Ryan Tabong’s 19 points and 21 boards.
SCMC-ARA scored 27 points in each of the first, third, and fourth quarters in what was a dominant performance.
