QBE, Vocus Sales, Converga Stay in Front

QBE, Vocus Sales and Converga remain on top of the pack in pool 1 of the 2017 BPO Classics Recreational Division as the action continued over the weekend at Phenom Sports Center.

The two teams solidified their place as 1-2-3 in their pool after QBE stayed undefeated after five games while Vocus Sales and Converga continued to stretched their win streaks.

QBE had an easy 93-74 win over Ring Central (Sales) in a game where it led as much as 33 points.

With a full roster at its disposal, all 14 players contributed at least two points for QBE but John Pagkalinawan led his team with 14 points.

Thanks to a 54-point first half, QBE never had problems the rest of the way even when Ring Central (Sales) outscored them in the third quarter, 20-14.

Vocus Sales, meanwhile, pipped AMMEX, 81-77, to stay behind QBE in the standings with a 4-1 record.

Despite a strong opening quarter, Vocus Sales had to fend off a pesky AMMEX side who managed to make it a game for the next three periods.

JM Tapia carried Vocus Sales on his shoulder with 27 points and five rebounds while Paulo Samonte and Richard Guillermo added 14 and 12, respectively.

It was Vocus Sales’ third straight victory after splitting their first two assignments in the tournament.

Converga also stayed hot with a fifth consecutive win, a 62-50 beating of Wells Fargo.

It was all Converga from start to finish of the low-scoring affair although Wells Fargo managed to keep in step in the second half.

Vito Gaucena and Jaime Dela Cruz shared the bulk of the scoring chores with 15 points apiece even as Jay Arambulo corralled a game-best 14 rebounds.

In other results, CFOS got back into winning track with an 80-62 rout of KMC Solutions.

Shrugging off a slow start, CFOS took over for good after coming out strong at the intermission and poured 50 in the second half.

Floyd Narcida unleashed an impressive 32-point, 22-rebound performance for CFOS, who improved to 2-3 after back-to-back losses.
