SYKES Asia, Accenture Still Unscathed

SYKES Asia and Accenture enjoyed another week with undefeated records in the 2017 BPO Classics Recreational Plus Division.

Both teams, though, took different path to the victories as SYKES Asia escaped with a 61-58 win over IBEX while Accenture dominated QuintilesIMS, 95-56, last August 5 at the Phenom Sports Center.

SYKES Asia overcame a slow start and needed a strong push in the last five minutes to retain its pristine division-best record at 5-0.

After trailing 33-18 in the first half, SYKES Asia held IBEX to just eight points in the third but it wasn’t until the midway mark of the fourth that it got the lead.

A 10-1 lead put SYKES Asia ahead for the first time, 54-53, with 4:40 to play and it never trailed again from there.

John Jolejole and Christian Dayao chipped in a combined 29 points off the bench for SYKES Asia while starter Jonjett Hernandez added 13.

In contrast, Accenture jumped the gun against QuintilesIMS from the get go and never relented, leading by as much as 42 points at one point.

There was no shortage in firepower as six players scored at least 10 points for Accenture, who improved to 4-0 to stay in second place.

Erwin Umali had an all-around game with 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead Accenture.

IBEX and QuintilesIMS dropped to 1-3 and 1-4, respectively.

In other results, Alere picked up their third win with an 79-70 nipping of ARMCO.

Alere pounced on the listless ARMCO, setting the tone with a 28-9 opening quarter to lead by as big as 22 points.

Joseph Carlos exploded for 26 points along with six rebounds for Alere, which hiked its record to 3-1, good for fourth place.

ARMCO tried to make things happen with a 27-17 third quarter but it wasn’t enough to rattle Alere.

ARMCO remains the lone winless team in the division as it continued its slide to 5-0.
