Composure helped SYKES Asia take home the Recreational Plus division crown in 2017 BPO Classics last Sunday.
With Teletech breathing down its neck in the final quarter, SYKES Asia hold on to a precarious lead to win the title in the tournament organized by One Unite Sports & Events, Inc.
John Peter Jole-Jole, who has been all-around for SYKES Asia for most of the tournament, was adjudged the Most Valuable Player of the conference.
He teamed up with Noel Rivera and Jonjett Hernandez to help SYKES Asia fend off Teletech’s strong second half push.
A crucial 7-to-nothing run with under five minutes run gave SYKES Asia enough cushion to counter Teletech’s last ditch rally.
Hernandez sealed the win with a split from the stripe after Teletech even came within two, 63-61, with still 26 ticks remaining.
The trio Hernandez, Rivera and Jole-jole carried the load for SYKES Asia as they accounted for 44 of the team’s total output.
Hernandez led with 17 points, six rebounds and six dimes, Rivera had a whopping double-double with 15 points and 17 boards same as Jole-Jole, who added 12 points and 14 rebounds.
It was a valiant stand from Teletech, which managed to trim down SYKES Asia’s 15-point lead but just couldn’t get enough push to take over the game.
Teletech even outscored SYKES Asia, 40-32, in the final two quarters.
Onelle Baliton paced Teletech with 18 points and five rebounds in the losing effort. Benjamin Trinidad added 11 points.
