The Warfit Warriors and U5S Sunseekers bagged contrasting victories to headline a packed six-game slate in the tail-end of the 2017 Next5Hoops Metro Manila South Leg Qualifier Recreational Plus Division which saw superb individual performances.
The Warfit Warriors dismantled PDF, 119-85 behind an incredible performance from Mac Santos, who waxed hot for 50 markers in the win.
Santos made 14 three-point conversions in the game, as the Warriors cruised with a 42-23 fourth quarter. Dome Castillo contributed 16 points, 17 boards, five assists, and two steals while JC Abarrientos had 11 points, seven rebounds, and seven dimes.
Maui Onofre had 32 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists to lead PDF in a losing effort.
On the other hand, the Sunseekers needed extension to repulse Ballaholics, 91-85.
Trailing by eight at the start of the fourth period, the Sunseeker made their run, forced overtime, and scored key baskets in the extra period to overcome a 50-point explosion as well from Ballaholics’ Don Torres (18-of-31 FGs, 11-of-14 FTs).
Nomer Ballon topscored for U5S with 20 points coming off the bench on 50 percent shooting. Jovic Labrador and Mark Yabes added 16 and 12 markers, respectively.
Meanwhile, Abiel Herrera had an astounding 30-30 game to lead Sentinels to an 86-73 win over P4P X Trece.
Herrera had 38 points on 13-of-23 shooting and 34 rebounds to headline four double-digit scorers for his team in the win.
Nhavel Faisal led the charge for P4P X Trece, flirting with a triple-double as he finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and eight dimes.
Three other squads booked victories in the loaded six-game slate last weekend.
Cake Imagination drubbed D-Thugz, 83-57. Mark Capricho led with 23 points while Jerome Felomino filled the stat sheets with 19 rebounds to go along with eight points and eight assists. AJ Maralit had 16 markers for D-Thugz.
Blood Label also scored a blowout victory over Swish, 87-68. Jong Acido had 20 points while substitute Manuel Lopez added 18 points and nine rebounds.
Lastly, ET Homes edged Flight, 99-92 behind 20 points from Jan Posada.
The playoffs of the Recreational Plus Division will commence next weekend.
