Kingsmen, Tunesquad Headline Week 6 Eliminations

Kingsmen drubbed the Hornies while Arceegee Tunesquad prevailed in a shootout against Wolfpack in Week 6 action of the 2017 Next5Hoops Metro Manila North Leg Qualifiers Recreational Plus Division last October 14.

Kingsmen leaned on 17 points and nine rebounds from Roy Cayanan as his squad scored an easy victory over the Hornies, 107-82. It was a balanced effort for the Kingsmen which enabled them to blow out the Hornies.

Rhon Ortega and Jester Aquino combined for 54 points as Arceegee Tunesquad prevailed over Wolfpack in an intense and high-scoring affair.

After leading by only eight entering the halftime break, Tunesquad opened things up in the third quarter, outscoring Wolfpack, 32-17 for a more comfortable 23-point cushion.

However, Wolfpack fought back in the final frame, as Toto Trinidad and Luis Comonsad went to work. A triple by Trinidad under the final 20 seconds cut the deficit to just 111-108, but Joefred Trinidad from Tunesquad made the assurance free throws.

Ortega had 28 points on 50 percent shooting and six assists while Aquino had 26 points on 10-of-15 field goals and 11 rebounds. Wolfpack’s Trinidad scattered 38 markers which included six three-point makes.

Rey Electrical Center downed Squad Golds, 87-76 as Mavi Bernabe came off the bench to pour 21 points, leading five double-digit scorers for the team.

REC had a 26-17 first quarter, and went on to close out the game strong, outscoring Squad Golds, 30-19 in the final chapter.

Arturo Teruel led Squad Golds with a game-high 25 points.

Lastly, Matt Sombrito fired 16 points, making 6-of-8 from the floor as the Vanguards edged Avant, 69-61.

Sombrito did most of his damage in the third quarter, where the Vanguards outscored Avant, 28-14 and pulled away.

Maverick Remulla paced the losing side with 15 markers with Justin Ignacio adding 12 points.
