Goto Pilipinas annihilated the PNP Responders by 47 points to highlight post-Undas Next5Hoops Metro Manila North Leg Qualifier Intermediate Division action last November 4 and 5.
Goto Pilipinas pulled away from a close affair late in the second quarter, using a 14-1 run to deflate the spirits of the Responders.
The onslaught continued in the third and fourth periods, as they doubled the Responders’ total in those two quarters, 60-30. When it was all said and done, Goto Pilipinas won, 120-73.
Art Andres had an all-around outing of 23 points (11-of-16 shooting), eight rebounds, and seven assists, while Roy Cayanan added 20 markers. Five tallied double-digit scoring for the food company.
John Saracho carried the fight for PNP with 26 markers on 10-of-16 field goals, although he turned the ball over seven times.
Meanwhile, CW Home Depot and Pitalicious Shawarma both had to pull out all the stops to edge their foes.
CW Home Depot edged New San Jose Builders, Inc., 86-80, while Pitalicious pulled off a 97-95 squeaker past So Kian.
CW Home Depot took a 50-32 lead into the halftime break, but had to dodge repeated attempts by New San Jose Builders, Inc. in the second half to book the win.
An and-one play from Ryan Sual cut the deficit down to just 71-69 halfway in the fourth quarter; Bimbo Dimaguiba free throws and a basket by Rexcel Reyes pushed the lead back up to six.
Later, Sual hit a triple to make it 81-78 with only 1:27 left in the game, but Paul Pineda answered with a huge trey of his own to seal the game, 84-78 with under a minute left.
Pineda had 16 markers including five three-point conversions; Raju Mahammed and Carlo Abante each added 15 points. Sual was a one-man show for New San Jose with 37 markers.
Pitalicious likewise led by double-digits before So Kian made their run, cutting the deficit down to only one, 88-87 after a Daryll Galimba three late in the fourth quarter. Emman Banzali and Rodel Dequila responded to hand Pitalicious a 93-87 advantage.
So Kian once again pulled within one, but fortunately, Dequila sealed the win with free throws in the end.
Mak Wong led the shawarma company with 25 points, same as the total of Donnie Reyes. Reyes hauled down 14 boards while Dequila contributed 17 markers.
