It was another banner conference for 3W Builders in the Next5Hoops tournament.
3W Builders ended the Next5Hoops Metro Manila second South Leg Qualifier in a blaze of glory, winning the Recreational Plus Division and Intermediate Division titles over the weekend at the Phenom Sports Center.
In the Recreational Plus Division, 3W Builders came away with an 88-75 clincher over Fogwarts for its second title in this season’s qualifiers.
3W Builders, which went undefeated in nine games this conference, also won the first South Leg qualifier championship late last year.
Eusebio and Alvarado showed the way for 3W Builders in the final with 46 points combined along with eight and 10 rebounds, respectively.
3W Builders blew the game wide open late in the third quarter and was hardly threatened from there, leading by as much as 16 points.
The closest Fogwarts got was at nine, 69-60, with over six minutes left to play but 3W Builders quickly got the lead back to double digits.
Lomtong paced Fogwarts in a losing effort with 22 points while Gabut and Contacto had 14 and 13 points, in that order.
3W Builders also pulled off an undefeated campaign in the Intermediate Division, blasting Picole Brewers, 92-74, in the title match.
But 3W Builders had to shrug off a slow start, trailing for most of the first half and by as much as seven points against Picole Brewers.
The unbeaten side came out swinging in the second half, turning a close contest into a thorough beating with 28-13 assault led by Alvarado.
Alvarado poured 15 of his team-best 26 points in the third period alone while Vito Cruz, one of the team’s consistent best players, added 22 points for the game.
Picole Brewers’ last stand, meanwhile, was spearheaded by Destacamento and and Galabin, who teamed up for their team’s 31 points.
