The 2018 BPO Classics opened another season with an action-packed affair last May 5 at Phenom Sports Center in Makati City.
Eight teams kicked off the premier league for BPO companies with SYKES Asia, Teletech, Central and Eclaro coming away with the opening-day victories.
This BPO Classics, organized by ONE Unite Sports Inc., returns with 26 participating companies in Metro Manila.
On its first day, all four featured matches already went down the wire, starting with Eclaro’s 51-46 win over PSG Global Solutions.
Eclaro used a balanced second-half attack to make up for its six-point second quarter and slip away from PSG Global Solutions.
Castillo and Pedrajas spearheaded the attack for Eclaro with 15 and 11 points, respectively, while Jacinto had a monster effort with nine points and 16 rebounds.
In the second game, Central came through in the clutch to turn back Converga, 71-68.
Central used a 8-4 run in the last three minutes to frustrated Converage and turn a one-point deficit into the hard-fought victory.
Santos’ 26 points and six rebounds along with Concepcion’s 14 points, four rebounds and four assists sparked Central.
SYKES Asia, meanwhile, survived a last-ditch rally from Personiv for the 59-51 win.
Up by as much as 17 points at the start of the fourth, SYKES saw its lead go down to single digits with a minute left but had time on its side to hold on to the win.
Led by Pingol, SYKES Asia started out strong before Personiv pulled off a 22-13 fourth quarter assault that was for naught.
Pingol had 28 points to lead SYKES Asia while Molina added 12 points.
In the other game, Teletech scraped past Capital One, 49-43, to conclude the opening day.
A balanced effort from Teletech carried them to the win with Reyes scoring nine, Tuazon and Puno adding eight apiece and Magalona contributing seven points.
Action continues in the 2018 BPO Classics this weekend.
