PSG Global Solutions, Stellar BPO, Digital Room and Yondu barge into the next round of the 2018 BPO Classics Recreational Division playoff round.
In what is heating up to be a fierce battle to the final round of the tournament organized by One Unite Sports & Events, Inc., the four teams who hold either the fourth or fifth seeds entered the quarterfinals of their respective brackets.
Over at Pool 1, Digital Room eliminated Allegis in a 67-63 thriller last July 15 at the Phenom Sports Center in Makati.
No team gain an inch in the payoff period and it was only in the last minute that Digital Room got the separation it needed to come away with the crucial win.
With Allegis taking a 63-61 lead with 44 seconds left, Digital Room used a 6-0 run to close out the game and advance to a meeting against no. 1 seed Teletech.
Only four players scored for Digital Room led by Jude Vallagomesa, who had 28 points and 13 rebounds, and Noriel Tajan, who unleashed 25 points and five boards.
Telsta and Converga battle in the other match-up in Pool 1.
Meanwhile, Yondu dominated Ubiquity, 67-51, to also advance against the top seed in Pool 2.
Paulo Carbonilla carried Yondu, which led by as much as 19, on his shoulders with a game-best 23 points on 80% shooting from beyond the arch.
Royce Agustin and Julius Aguilar added 16 and 13 points, respectively, off the bench.
Yondu faces Capital One in the next game in the playoffs while Ring Central and QBE clash in the other Pool 2 game to begin their playoff round campaign.
In the Pool 3 battle, PSG Global Solutions outlasted Wells Fargo, 55-49, to secure a spot in the final 8.
Despite Wells Fargo’s advances, PSG Global Solution was able to hold on to a small lead in the fourth, enough to carry it to the come-from-behind victory.
The starting five took care of things for PSG Global Solutions with JC Salvo wounding up with a game-high 15 points and Reynaldo Gonzales Jr. and Lord Abrigo each chipping in 16.
PSG Global Solutions is up for a tough test as it goes up against Pool 3 no. 1 SYKES Asia.
In Pool 4, Stellar BPO snapped up the top 8 berth after nipping Eclaro, 60-55.
Behind the efforts of Dan Adoremos, Stellar BPO was able to fend off Eclaro in a tight contest with no side ever taking a double-digit advantage.
Stellar BPO made a living inside the paint, getting a whopping 48-22 edge in inside points and 60-45 in rebounds.
Adoremos paced Stellar BPO with 20 points along with nine rebounds while three other players contributed eight markers each.
